Hello, my name is Gershon Wolfe and welcome to my music composition web site. I study the structure of harmony, the twelve-tone technique, musical set theory, serialism, and minimalistic techniques in composition. I use these techniques to create simple, yet elegant, compositions. I am also the creator of arsNovaTM, an algorithmic music composer.

All complex problems can be reduced to simplistic or fundamental terms, and it is these terms that create the foundation of my compositions. I derive compositions that contain intricate texture and broad dynamic range by making use of all twelve notes of the chromatic scale, as opposed to the more restrictive diatonic scale. Using the expanded vocabulary of twelve tones, and not concentration on any one tone, referred to as atonality, an entirely new and expanded range of combinations of notes are possible.

As Frédéric François Chopin points out:

"Simplicity is the highest goal, achievable when you have overcome all difficulties. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art."
